1. Introduction

Kid World Readers ("KWR", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of the families we work with. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you and your child have in relation to that information.

This Privacy Policy applies to our website, our digital literacy programmes delivered via LearnWorlds, our VIP Tutoring services, and any bookings made via Calendly. It should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions, available at kidworldreaders.com/terms.

We comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) in the way we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information.

2. What Information We Collect

2.1 From you, the parent or guardian

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Billing address and payment information (processed directly by Stripe — see Section 5)
  • Account login details
  • Any information you provide to us directly, such as through enquiry forms, emails, or Calendly booking questions

2.2 About your child (provided by you)

  • First name and age
  • Lesson progress, assessment results, and engagement data within the programme
  • Any learning-need information you choose to share with us in connection with VIP Tutoring (for example, a diagnosed learning difference)

Your child does not create their own account, provide their own information, or interact with us directly outside of supervised lessons — all information about your child is provided and controlled by you.

2.3 Collected automatically

  • IP address, browser and device type, and general website usage data, collected via standard website analytics

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To deliver and personalise the KWR programme and track your child's lesson progress
  • To process payments, manage subscriptions, and administer VIP Tutoring cohorts
  • To send transactional communications, such as invoices, session reminders, and onboarding information
  • To send marketing communications, only where you have consented to receive them, in accordance with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email
  • To improve our programme content and website
  • To respond to enquiries, complaints, and support requests

4. Children's Information

We take particular care with information relating to children, given the nature of our programme. The following applies specifically to information about your child:

  • Information about your child is provided and controlled by you, the parent or legal guardian — your child does not hold an independent account or provide information directly to us.
  • Lesson progress and assessment data is used solely to personalise and support your child's learning experience within the KWR programme, and the Parent Membership component where applicable.
  • We do not use information about your child for advertising or marketing purposes, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
  • You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of information held about your child at any time — see Section 6.

5. Who We Share Information With

We work with a small number of trusted service providers to operate KWR. Each provider only uses your information to perform the specific service they provide to us, and is not authorised to use it for their own independent purposes.

  • LearnWorlds — our course platform, used for hosting programme content, delivering lessons, and managing accounts
  • Flodesk — our email marketing and communications provider
  • Zapier — the automation service that connects LearnWorlds and Flodesk
  • Stripe — our payment processor. We do not store your full card details ourselves; these are handled directly and securely by Stripe
  • Calendly — used to manage tutoring and onboarding bookings

We do not sell personal information to any third party, and we do not share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We may disclose personal information where required by law, such as in response to a lawful request from a regulatory or law enforcement authority.

6. Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Request access to a copy of the personal information we hold about you or your child, generally free of charge
  • Request correction of any information you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date
  • Request deletion of information we no longer have a lawful reason to hold

To make a request, contact us at [insert contact email]. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 20 working days as required under the Privacy Act 2020.

7. Cross-Border Data Storage

Some of the service providers listed in Section 5 may store or process personal information outside New Zealand, including in the United States or other jurisdictions where their servers are located. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive a comparable standard of protection, consistent with Information Privacy Principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020.

8. Data Retention

We keep your account and programme data for as long as your membership is active, in order to deliver the service to you.

Following cancellation of your membership, we retain account and progress data for up to 24 months, to allow for support enquiries, potential re-enrolment, and record-keeping, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Financial and invoicing records are retained separately for as long as required under New Zealand tax law (currently seven years), regardless of when a membership is cancelled.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access, including relying on the security measures of reputable service providers such as LearnWorlds and Stripe. However, no online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to us.

10. Notifiable Privacy Breaches

In the event of a privacy breach that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and any affected individuals as required under the Privacy Act 2020.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect once published on our website. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
